There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Twin Butte, Alberta

We had our first Livestock Marketing and Proper Stockmanship school in Alberta in Twin Butte near beautiful Waterton Park.

We came into the area from the south to see the fire damage. You can see how close it came to our school location in Twin Butte.

Sunrise as we were unloading the car to set up for the first day of the school.

While we were eating lunch, this group of cows and riders went by. Notice the rider on the road trying to keep the livestock down on the right-of-way? He’s actually pulling them up onto the road! If he would have stayed down on the grass with his buddies the cattle would have walked down the grass and leave the road alone.

I couldn’t resist taking a bunch of pictures of the wonderful landscape around us.

Sunrise on day 3.

On school day 3 another group of cattle crossed the road following the feed truck. They all went smoothly with the treats in front of them.

But, once the hay truck went on ahead to the barn, the cattle stalled out in the lane (fence both sides) bawling and fussing before the cowboys finally got them moving again. Let’s train our cattle to drive and then we can take them anywhere, anytime.

We always talk about Steve Cote’s book, “Stockmaship.”

We got about 2 inches of snow on the last school day. You can’t even see the mountains.

Then the sun broke through just before sunset showing the snow on the mountains.
