In the final analysis there is no solution to man’s progress but the day’s honest work, the day’s honest decisions, the day’s generous utterances and the day’s good deed.

Photos of our Fundraiser Demonstration to Benefit Horses of Hope

We were asked to put on a demonstration as part of a fundraising afternoon for Horses of Hope Therapeutic Riding Center.

First Richard talked to the crowd and went over some basics of good stockmanship.

Then he drove around these five calves brought by Vernon Hostettler. They were the perfect temperament, they moved out well and started out in such a way it was easily apparent the difference Richard made in them in the time he drove them.

About half way through the first drive, Richard brought them right up to the crowd . . .

. . .and left them while he talked to the crowd again. This shows how comfortable they were with the driving and how that place (even though it was right by the crowd) was the “safe place” to be and stay.

Then they asked Richard to put them in this pen because there was a Horses of Hope demonstration next.

There they stand, happy as can be.

After the Horses of Hope demonstration, they pulled the stock trailer into the arena next to the pens but with no other panels to assist with the loading. Richard drove them around the pen about twice and then into the trailer.

The promo flyer said Richard would “tame wild steers before your eyes,” and he did, as well as educate folks about good stockmanship techniques!
