Back Home Again

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

We hurried home from West Virginia knowing that a massive ice storm had hit SW Missouri and our farm the week previous. This is part of what we found this morning. The tree damage is massive throughout the entire area, but we were incredibly lucky that no buildings, water lines, or animals were harmed. We were also a lot more lucky than many people in that our electricity was only off for five days and was on when we returned.

The Friendliest City in the USA

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Keyser sure might be the friendliest city in the USA, but I found that West Virginia is about the friendliest state in the Union!

I spoke to about 120 people in the Burlington Firehouse between Keyser and Romney.

Starting off Week Two!

I spoke to about 90 people in the barn of the old WV state prison in Moundsville. What a neat building and great crowd.

Weekend has been Great Fun!

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

We enjoyed visiting Washington, DC and Gettysburg while waiting to speak Monday evening to a Wheeling, WV crowd. The weather back home in SW Missouri is just about as nasty as it gets with freezing rain the last three nights adding up to disastrous tree damage and power outages. At least our cattle handled well for the kids moving them to hay to weather the storm. It’s sure nice using good stockmanship to do what needs to be done.

This week we will be in Wheeling the 15th, Morgantown the 16th, Keyser the 17th, and end in Martinsburg on the 18th. Come see us!

Fourth Talk this Week!

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Our last night this week was in Franklin, WV where I spoke to about 100 people.

Great WV Load-out Facility!

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I saw this corral and loading area on Hwy 33 just east of Harman, WV, and had to get a photo.

The people who loaded out of this corral knew how to work livestock!
